Anthony Gordon sends message to Newcastle after devastating news
England forward Anthony Gordon has been handed another significant blow in what is proving to be a difficult period of his career on a personal level.
The _-year-old had to watch Newcastle win the EFL Cup from the sidelines earlier this month as the Magpies defeated Liverpool 2-1 without him being involved in any capacity.
Gordon missed what would have been one of the biggest games of his career due to a suspension, and his attempts to impress Thomas Tuchel in an England shirt also ended disastrously on Friday (21 March).
Gordon replaced Marcus Rashford in the 74th minute of the 2-0 win against Albania, but it ended with him in severe pain.
Tuchel confirmed that Gordon had hurt himself during the match, and that became clear when the Newcastle star withdrew himself from the international squad.
Gordon is now heading back to Newcastle so his hip injury can be assessed by the club’s medical department to see how severe the issue is.

Anthony Gordon sends an England message
The game against Albania might have been one to forget for Gordon due to his injury, but for other players, it was a historical occasion.

Gordon’s Newcastle teammate Dan Burn is one of those players as the World Cup qualifier saw him make his Three Lions debut just days after he scored in the EFL Cup final.
That’s something that Gordon was able to celebrate despite his injury, as he sent a heart emoji to the towering defender on Instagram.

England could call upon Callum Hudson-Odoi
Gordon’s injury is a blow to the England squad and will weaken Tuchel’s attacking options for Monday’s (24 March) game against Latvia.
Nottingham Forest fans have urged Tuchel to call up Callum Hudson-Odoi, who many people felt was harshly done by not being in the squad originally.
Tuchel is someone who knows Hudson-Odoi well from their time at Chelsea together where they won the Champions League.
