Anthony Knockaert sends warning to Leeds ahead of Brighton clash

By Dominic Toner

Brighton playmaker Anthony Knockaert has warned that his side are not scared of anyone ahead of their trip to Leeds on Saturday.

The Whites host Brighton at Elland Road in the Championship as two of the top teams in division clash.

Garry Monk’s side are fourth-placed in the league table and are trying to consolidate their position in the play-off places.

Meanwhile, their upcoming opponents Brighton are second and are in a strong position to clinch automatic promotion.

Knockaert has been one of the standout players for the Seagulls this season, scoring 13 goals and supplying eight assists in 36 appearances.

The Frenchman believes that Brighton are confident of playing anyone in the league and feels they will not act any differently in the match against Leeds.

“They are all big games but as I said before we played Reading and Newcastle, for us it’s just a normal game (against Leeds),” Knockaert told the Argus. “I’m not lying when I say that. It doesn’t matter where they are in the league, it’s just about us.

“If you look at the table now it’s in our hands. If we keep winning and do things right, there’s no reason why we won’t be there at the end of the season. That’s what we are fighting for and we’re not scared of anyone.”

Leeds will be seeking for some revenge against Brighton after suffering a 2-0 defeat in the previous meeting this season, with Glenn Murray and Tomer Hemed scoring the goals back in December.

The Whites will have home advantage this time and have made Elland Road a fortress this season.

They are unbeaten in their last 10 games since a defeat to table toppers Newcastle and are being tipped to be involved in the play-offs at the end of the season.

The Yorkshire giants are still looking nervously over their shoulders and will be keen to extend the five-point gap they have over seventh-placed Fulham.
