By Danny Wright
Anthony Ralston has hailed the performance of his Celtic team-mates in the 5-0 demolition of Sunderland in a friendly fixture at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The 18-year-old was one of just two players that featured for the entire 90 minutes of the clash, which was won convincingly following a hat-trick from Callum McGregor and further goals by Jonny Hayes and Stuart Armstrong.
Ralston also gave his verdict on the travelling Celtic supporters, who packed the stands on Wearside as they saw their side lift the Dafabet trophy with ease.
“Good result today. Fans were class as always,” said the right-back on his personal Twitter account after the match on Saturday.
Ralston is one of a number of highly-rated youngster that have made their way through the ranks of the Bhoys’ youth academy in recent years.
Although he has just three senior appearances to his name, many fans expect the teenager to breaking into Brendan Rodgers’ plans in the near future, and putting in displays like he did against Sunderland will only aid his cause.
The Scotland Under-19 international earned his first-team debut for the Hoops last season when he came off the bench in the 5-0 League Cup win over Motherwell in October.
He was then handed his first start for the Glaswegians in the 4-1 hammering of St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership in May, as he played for the entire 90 minutes.
In other Celtic news, fans have reacted strongly to Nadir Ciftci’s inclusion in the victory over Sunderland.
