Antonio Conte delivers Tottenham verdict, praises senior man

By Dominic Toner

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes that Tottenham have improved since last season and hailed the influence of Mauricio Pochettino.

The two London clubs have a highly anticipated clash on Wednesday night as their rivalry is resumed in the Premier League.

Spurs will welcome Chelsea to White Hart Lane and the visitors will set a division record of 14 consecutive victories if they win.

However, Conte is expecting a tough game against Spurs and praised the work of his opposite number Pochettino.

“They are better than last season, they have a good manager who is working very well, and this team is improving every year. It’s right to compliment Pochettino,” Conte said, as quoted by Chelsea’s official website.

Argentinian manager Pochettino has introduced his own attacking philosophy to the club and he has become a huge favourite with supporters.

Spurs competed for the Premier League title last season with Leicester before finishing third, but find themselves in fifth ahead of the Chelsea match.

The north London club will still hope they can bridge the 10-point gap to table toppers Chelsea, but are not even guaranteed a spot in the top four let alone the title.

The Premier League’s elite clubs have all returned to the top this campaign and the competition is extremely difficult.

Spurs are currently in a great run of form and have won their last four league games, including back-to-back victories over Watford and Southampton.

England duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli are continuing to shine at White Hart Lane and are regarded as two of the best young players in the Premier League.

Spurs are trying to establish themselves as one of the top sides in England and Conte certainly feels that they are improving.

In other Tottenham news, Michael Owen has given his prediction ahead of the club’s upcoming game against Chelsea.
