Ossie Ardiles is adamant that Tottenham are a better side than Chelsea ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final between the Premier League title rivals.

Just four points separate the two sides at the summit of England’s top flight, as Man United beat Chelsea following Spurs’ 4-0 triumph over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, ex-Spurs manager Ardiles boldly claimed his old side are better than Chelsea and claimed Saturday’s clash “is getting more and more important”.

Spurs will be eyeing their first FA Cup triumph since 1991 that saw them secure a 2-1 win in extra-time against Nottingham Forest, as they look to progress to the final.

They will meet either Manchester City or Arsenal in the final, who play on Sunday.

Saturday’s clash between the rivals could prove to be more important than just progression into the final of the FA Cup, with pundits claiming that a win could be crucial in the title race.

Former England defender Danny Mills believes the momentum of beating a title rival could be the required ingredient in catching Chelsea up, and Ardiles eludes to that in his Tweet.

With six games left to go in the league, Chelsea appear to have the easier run in with only three of their remaining matches against top-half opposition in Watford, Southampton and Everton.

Spurs still have Man United and Arsenal to play in their six remaining games, as the pressure heats up on what could be an exciting end to the 2016-17 season.

In other Tottenham news, Danny Murphy has also given his verdict on the title run-in.
