Former Tottenham midfielder Osvaldo Ardiles labelled Spurs’ Europa League draw against Belgium outfit Gent as “great”.

The north London outfit dropped down to Europe’s secondary competition after finishing third in their Champions League group E.

This saw Tottenham enter the Europa League round of 32 draw on Monday morning, where they drew the north west Belgium side.

It is a nice tie for Spurs with just one hour and five minutes between London and Ghent, and Ardiles posted on his personal Twitter account that the low travel time is a huge benefit.

The competition presents a good opportunity for Tottenham to win some silverware, while also gaining a spot in next season’s Champions League if they fail to finish in the Premier League’s top four.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently sat in fifth and three points separates them from fourth placed Manchester City.

The battle at the top has become a lot tougher this season with the reemergence of Liverpool and Chelsea following disappointing last campaign’s.

Tottenham are set to play 19th placed Hull in the league on Wednesday evening at White Hart Lane in a match which they are strong favourites to win.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs may sanction the deal to sell this defender in January, if teenager joins.
