Exclusive: Mills worried by latest Augustin development
Danny Mills suggested there may be major issues with Jean-Kevin Augustin’s body if he follows up his latest hamstring strain with another Leeds United injury.
The former Leeds and Manchester City full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested there will be growing concerns over the 22-year-old’s long-term fitness.
The Athletic’s Phil Hay claimed the January loan signing will likely miss the remaining nine fixtures after he sustained a recurrence of a hamstring injury that kept him out earlier this season.
Angus Kinnear, the club’s managing director, told the Yorkshire Evening Post in April that he expected the French striker to play “a critical part to play in the run-in.”
However, the injury will more than likely see Augustin complete his loan deal with just three substitute appearances to his name.
When asked by Football Insider if the development was a blow to Marcelo Bielsa ahead of a hectic fixture schedule, Mills said: “We do not know if he is going to be missed because we have never seen him play! That is the biggest problem.

“It limits Leeds’ options but we don’t really know how good he is and if Leeds get off to a good start it could be over in three games.
“It is a slight concern at the moment but you need to take into account that it has been lockdown.
“However, if it happens again after this season then you would think that something is wrong. You would be looking for other things that are not quite right within his body to get it fixed.”
As revealed by Football Insider in March, the Whites have an obligation to buy Augustin for £18million this summer if they gain promotion.
Patrick Bamford is expected to lead the attack when Leeds restart their promotion push at Cardiff City this Sunday.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that club is working on deals for two defenders.
