'Are you having a laugh?' – Rangers fans react to reported move for veteran enforcer

Rangers are plotting a swoop for veteran defender Gareth McAuley and Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news.

The Daily Record claim that Rangers are considering a one-year deal for the 38-year-old centre-back, recently released after West Brom were relegated last season.

Director of football Mark Allen has been in contact with the defender who is keen on a move to Ibrox as he looks to play for as long as possible.

He harbours ambitions of leading Northern Irleand to Euro 2020 at the age of 40.

Rangers fans are in two minds though, with some thinking that at 38 he’s too old to do a proper job for Rangers.

However, the critics are in the minority, with most Rangers fans open to a move as long as his wages are reasonable.

However, one did say that Rangers have gone from Martin Skrtel and Fernando Torres to Liverpool loanees and McAuley, and says he wants the fun to last just a little bit longer before reality kicks in.

It’s a fair point.
