Arsenal '1000%' backed to sign White after friends reveal - Pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Ben White would be the “best defender” at Arsenal if he was to complete a move.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward admitted Brighton would not let their “biggest asset” leave on the cheap this summer.

Football Insider learned yesterday (17 June) White has told his friends he expects to join the Gunners before the end of the window.

He has already begun househunting in the English capital ahead of a potential move.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week (16 June) Brighton have rejected a £40million bid by Arsenal for the 23-year-old.

White is currently on international duty with England after replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad.

Asked whether he would improve the Gunners, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “1000 per cent.

“He’d be Arsenal’s best player in defence. He’s shown what he can do at Brighton, he showed what he could do at Leeds in the season before in the Championship.

“For me, he could make Arsenal a better team and if Arsenal can get that done, they should.

“But once again, it’s not going to be cheap. Brighton aren’t going to sell one of their biggest asset on the cheap, it’s going to be an expensive signing for Arsenal.”

White featured in all but three of Brighton’s Premier League games last season.

His performances earned him his first England call up and he now has two caps to his name but could earn more at the European Championship.
