Arsenal backed to seal deal for Marcus Rashford after manager’s reveal – expert

Kevin Campbell has backed Arsenal to make a concrete move for Marcus Rashford if the forward becomes available next summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the 24-year-old “ticks some really good boxes” for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Rashford has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford, although there is a one-year extension clause.

As quoted by the Daily Mail (19 October), Erik ten Hag said the focus is “on football” and “not on negotiating” when quizzed about the England international’s future.

Sources have told Football Insider (5 October) that the Gunners are keeping close tabs on Rashford’s situation.

When asked if the forward would be a welcome addition at the Emirates, Campbell told Football Insider: “He ticks some really good boxes for Arsenal.

“On the counter attack, he can be devastating. He undone Arsenal at Old Trafford earlier this season with his speed. Rashford can be devastating on his day, we know that.

“Manchester United are dithering by the sounds of it. I’m sure Arsenal would go for him if he became available next summer.

“He is an international player who has played on the big stages. He knows how to get games one. That is what Arsenal lack sometimes. It would be great to have a player of his experience as part of the rotation.”

Rashford has made an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign.

He has scored five goals in 13 appearances across all competitions.
