Arsenal backed to sign Marcus Rashford after source’s £50m reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has suggested it would be a “great move” for Marcus Rashford to join Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said a move to the Emirates could help Rashford reignite his good form.

On Wednesday (5 October), sources told this site that the Gunners are keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old.

The winger has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford.

Man United have the option to extend his deal by a further year.

The England international is valued at around £50million by the Red Devils but could be available for free next summer.

Earlier this year, this site revealed that Mikel Arteta’s side registered their interest in Rashford earlier this year before completing the marquee capture of Gabriel Jesus from Man City.

When asked if Arsenal would be a good move for Rashford, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Yes it would be.

I like him but he has done nothing at Man United. Everything he did for the government was applaudable and it was great but you have to remember you are a footballer. I do not think he has spent enough time as a footballer.

Arsenal

He was this great player then all of a sudden you didn’t hear from him. He is not going to hit the heights by sulking. Leave Man United, change of direction, Arsenal are a young team, young manager. They are a breath of fresh air at the moment.

I think it would be great for him and he would enjoy it there because they play the kind of football he wants to play. At Arsenal, Rashford would become that player again, I don’t think he is going to get that back at Man United.
