Kieran Maguire: Arteta and Kroenke could be ‘building something special’ after Arsenal images emerge

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and owner Stan Kroenke have had the chance to build their personal relationship during recent talks.

So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the pair were spotted together in the United States.

Pictures relayed by the Daily Star on Tuesday (25 January) show Arteta and Kroenke seated together at a Colorado Avalanche NHL game in Denver.

The Daily Mail reported the same day that transfers and the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were top of the agenda during the talks.

Maguire explained the merits of a face-to-face meeting between the billionaire businessman and the manager.

“I believe Kroenke’s son is involved more on an operational basis with the club,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“So it isn’t necessarily vital in that respect. But it does no harm to have face to face meetings because most people are Zoomed out.

“You can’t read the room to the same extent as you would in an offline meeting.

“It’s good to meet in the flesh and to be able to perhaps to have a more informal meeting.

“You can meet around dinner and build something more special, a more personal relationship than you can do online.”

Arteta is under contract until 2023 and the Daily Mail reported last Friday (21 January) that the Gunners are set to offer him a new two-year deal.

Arsenal are 6th in the league table and are next in action against Wolves on 10 February.

In other news, Arsenal defender Ryan Alebiosu agrees to join Crewe Alexandra.
