Arsenal fans all say the same thing after ‘disaster’ William Saliba injury blow

Arsenal fans are fearing the worst after William Saliba was withdrawn at half-time with a possible injury during their clash with Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta’s side won 1-0 at the Emirates after a dull first-half affair which saw David Raya keep his side in the game with a couple of tremendous stops.

The second half saw the Gunners finally take the lead through an excellent Declan Rice strike, but Saliba’s withdrawal was the game’s main talking point.

The Gunners needed just three points from their final five league games of the season to secure Champions League football.

Draws with both Crystal Palace and Liverpool either side of a defeat to Bournemouth led to a nervous end to the season, but a win against Newcastle has confirmed their place.

However, a potential injury to Saliba has added new concerns despite their achievement given the extent of the team’s fitness issues throughout the season.

Arsenal injury issues continue after staff concerns

Arsenal have suffered badly due to injuries this season, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Magalhaes missing significant periods.

Those injuries have only caused further concerns, after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider Arsenal staff are concerned about Odegaard’s recovery.

A two-month injury layoff with an ankle issue between September and November is believed to have caused him further issues which have contributed to wards his dip in form.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in September that Arsenal want to sign an alternative to Odegaard given their lack of strength in depth behind the midfielder.

William Saliba dealt new injury blow v Newcastle

Saliba has been a mainstay in Arteta’s side despite the frequent injury concerns, having appeared in 35 of their 37 Premier League games so far.

If, as Arsenal fans fear, he has picked up an injury against Newcastle, they will take solace in the fact he will likely miss just one game and have the summer to recover.

However, that has not eased the concerns amongst the home supporters as they took to social media during the game to express their concerns.
