Arsenal fans besiege Wenger to sign Tottenham 28-year-old after reported contract bombshell
By Matt Farr
Toby Alderweireld has reportedly turned his back on the new deal being offered at Tottenham – and Arsenal fans have urged the club to make a move.
Tottenham have been looking for the 28-year-old to put pen-to-paper on a new long term deal at the club for some time, but their attempts have reportedly hit another bump in the road.
Alderweireld still has three years left to run on his current deal at White Hart Lane, but it is understood that he has a release clause that will become active during his final year.
The Belgium international is one of the few key Spurs players who has not committed to a new long-term deal this season.

Di Marzio reports the clause to be a paltry £23.4million, hence the urgency for Tottenham to strike a fresh agreement.
The news, however, has sparked great interest from Arsenal fans, who took to Twitter to besiege Arsene Wenger into making a move for the rival defender.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
£23m release clause in Toby Alderweireld contract and he doesn't wanna sign a new contract. @Arsenal time to do another Sol Campbell

Alderweireld is unhappy at Tottenham and has a £23.4m release clause? That's almost too good to be true. Arsenal should be all over him.

The Belgian international has been a formidable force at the back for Tottenham since his move from Atletico Madrid in 2015.
Alderweireld has been ever-present this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions, contributing to a Tottenham side that boasts the best defensive record in the Premier League.
They have conceded an incredible 18 goals fewer than north London rivals Arsenal, who are once again suffering from a lack of defensive security, and sit sixth in the league.
In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs must launch a raid for this Manchester United 21-year-old following Mourinho criticism.
