Arsenal fans were left raging on social media at the performance of Calum Chambers despite helping his side beat Stoke City 3-0 on Easter Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s men managed to pick up all three points and increase the gap between them and Burnley in seventh place to five points, but it was no thanks to was a poor opening 45 minutes from the home side, who were sloppy in possession and rarely threatened Jack Butland in goal for the Potters.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 76th minute when Mesut Ozil was upended in the box under a challenge from Bruno Martins Indi to hand the North Londoners a penalty, which Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang duly converted.

The Gabon international got his second of the game shortly after and Alexandre Lacazette netted the third from the spot in the 89th minute.

Despite the scoreline, on the whole it was a poor display from the Gunners, who were consistently guilty of giving the ball away on a day where there were few in the red and white shirt to show any real quality, but supporters particularly had it in for Chambers.

Signed from Southampton in 2014, the 23-year-old has hardly given supporters a reason to make him a fan favourite.

The defender had made 16 appearances for Wenger’s side before Stoke’s arrival at the Emirates but his defensive naivety and the frequency by which he finds himself out of position have meant that he has been unable to hold down a place in the first-team.
