Arsenal fans fume at ‘bottler’ Declan Rice as footage re-analysed
Arsenal had their Premier League title aspirations destroyed by their long-term rivals Man United on Sunday (9 March) as the two teams battled out a draw at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes had initially given United the lead at the end of the first half, and while Declan Rice equalised in the 74th minute they were unable to kick on and secure a late winner.
The Gunners dominated the game with 69 percent of the possession and 17 shots, but it was ultimately another two points dropped for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The draw has left Arsenal 15 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League table after 28 matches, and while they do have a game in hand on Arne Slot’s men it is now a monumental task for them.
Arsenal are also looking over their shoulder as Nottingham Forest and Chelsea are continuing to put pressure on their second-place spot.
The Gunners will be back in action on Wednesday (12 March) in the second leg of their Round of 16 fixture against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, which is presenting their best chance at silverware this season.

Declan Rice enrages Man United supporters
Rice’s goal was only his second of the season in the Premier League and he took full advantage of the situation by celebrating it.
The England international ran to the corner of the ground and shushed the United supporters who had been vocal throughout the game.
Match Stats | Rice |
Total Shots | 2 |
Accurate Passes | 62/68 (91%) |
Touches | 83 |
Successful Dribbles | 1/2 (50%) |
However, his decision to focus on taunting the United fans rather than focusing on getting the ball back and trying to score a winner immediately was something that left fans frustrated.

Arsenal fans have questioned the mentality of the squad
Arsenal supporters have questioned the mentality of the squad and Rice in particular after being left frustrated at the 1-1 draw against the 20-time champions.
Fans claimed that the mentality of the club “reeks” as others pointed out that it is an “issue” for the Gunners.
Supporters were left frustrated with Rice’s lack of urgency to get the game restarted after scoring, as they felt his priorities were in the wrong place.
