The Gunners managed made a late comeback after going 4-1 down but they failed to grab an equaliser and began the season with a demoralising home defeat.

90% sure Arsene Wenger was intoxicated while selecting Arsenal’s back line for the day

Arsene Wenger just doesn’t have a plan B ever. Think it’s time for him to throw in the towel

I love @Arsenal but Arsene Wenger is arrogant… You spend +/-35mil on a player and he sits on the bench…new season, same old Wenger

Very sad but good in a way to lose. Arsenal need to buy a top striker and a centre back. Why Arsene Wenger is stubborn I don’t know?

Arsenal opened the scoring through Theo Walcott in the first-half, as he redeemed himself for an earlier penalty miss.
The momentum firmly shifted Liverpool’s way just before half-time as Philippe Coutinho scored a sensational free-kick to equalise.
Coutinho again, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane scored three goals in 14 minute after the break to leave Liverpool cruising.
Substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and defender Calum Chambers did cut the deficit but Liverpool held out for a thrilling opening day victory.
Wenger opted to start England under-21 defensive pair Chambers and Rob Holding at the back but the risk didn’t pay off as they leaked four goals to an impressive Liverpool attacking unit.
