Kevin Wimmer made a costly mistake during Austria’s defeat against Ireland on Saturday evening, and Arsenal fans on Twitter found it humorous.
The Tottenham defender started the match in the left-back position and gave up possession easily to put Ireland on the counter which led to James McClean’s goal.
His mistake cost Austria in their World Cup qualifier as they suffered a 1-0 defeat and it was the focus point of many Arsenal fans on social media.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Wimmer, 23, has made just one league appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, despite Toby Alderweireld suffering an injury.
His solitary appearance came against the Gunners and he put the ball in his own net to give Arsenal the lead in the north London derby with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.
The two rivals are currently separated by just three points in the league with Arsenal in fourth on 24 and Tottenham in fifth on 21 points.
Spurs have never finished above the Gunners in the Premier League era and a disastrous collapse at the end of last season allowed Arsenal to leapfrog them just before the campaign’s end.
