Arsenal handed massive injury boost ahead of Man United clash
By Matt Bullin
Arsenal have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of their clash with Manchester United on Sunday as Granit Xhaka has returned to training.
The Swiss midfielder was pictured by the Daily Express training with the rest of the Gunners’ squad ahead of their crucial match at the Emirates.
The Independent had previously reported that Xhaka was set to miss the United match after limping off with an ankle injury against Spurs.
The 24-year-old left the field due to an ankle complaint after 65 minutes at White Hart Lane, as his side slipped to a 2-0 defeat in the North London derby.
Since his £35million move from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer Xhaka has failed to win over the fans at Arsenal.
Tony Cascarino even called him the worst signing of all time, but he has made 40 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.
The 50-time Switzerland international has netted three goals for the club and has provided three assists as well, however he has picked up two red cards as well.
If Xhaka is fit to return he will be an undoubted boost to his side who have struggled in the middle of the park this season.
Wenger himself has said, “There is a little chance,” on the Arsenal website.
Wenger’s side currently sit sixth in the Premier League, but a win at the Emirates on Sunday would cut the gap between themselves and Man United to two points – and Arsenal would still have a game in hand.
