Arsenal idol issues ‘huge’ Martin Odgeaard verdict after development pre-Tottenham

Kevin Campbell has claimed it would be “huge” for Arsenal if Martin Odegaard and Oleksandr Zinchenko were declared fit for the North London derby.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gunners and Everton striker said Mikel Arteta would have no problem sticking with the XI that beat Brentford if not though.

Odegaard and Zinchenko missed the 3-0 win at Brentford on 18 September because of injury.

Fabio Vieira and Kieran Tierney deputised for the pair to great effect in what was a convincing victory.

Odegaard made his return from injury in Norway’s 2-1 loss to Slovenia on Saturday (24 September).

He played 71 minutes of the Nations League clash.

When asked by Football Insider how important Odegaard’s return could be against Spurs on Saturday, Campbell said: “It would be huge, it really would be huge.

“We want every player fit. You want a big squad to choose from.

“The good thing is, the deputies performed against Brentford. It was a dominant display at a very difficult ground.

Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira pre-match.

“If Odegaard and Zinchenko are not quite ready the manager will just stick with the XI that won at Brentford. If they are fit, they will come back in for Vieira and Tierney.

“You do not have to take that risk though. There may only be one change. If they are not fully fit you can leave them on the bench.”
