Arsenal rebuffed a deadline line enquiry from Italian giants Juventus for defender Hector Bellerin, according to a reliable journalist.
David Hytner, who is a football correspondent for the Guardian, revealed on his personal Twitter account that the Serie A champions had made last-ditch approach to sign the 22-year-old for a deal around £36million.
Hytner mentioned that the Gunners emphatically turned down the offer from Juventus and he also questioned the timing of the move.
Juventus made a €40m enquiry for Hector Bellerin this afternoon. Dismissed out of hand by Arsenal. Bit of a punt from Juve. Why so late??!!

It is a deal completely out of the blue as Bellerin had been constantly linked with a move back to his former club Barcelona throughout the summer.
The defender has endured a very tough start to the new campaign as Arsenal have lost two of the opening three Premier League matches, conceding a total of eight goals in the process.
The Spaniard produced a poor display in the last game where the Gunners were humiliated in a 4-0 defeat at the hands of rivals Liverpool last weekend.
Bellerin was deployed in an unfamiliar role at left full-back and struggled to keep it tight at the back and he was also at fault for Liverpool’s third goal.
The defender’s current contract at the Emirates Stadium runs out in 2023.
Football Insider verdict
This appears to be very desperate move from Juventus. Arsenal were never going to sell one of their most important players with just hours remaining before the transfer window closed. If the Italian were serious in their pursuit of the Spaniard, they should tabled a bid earlier on in the summer and given the Gunners something to think about. Although Bellerin hasn’t started off the season in fine fashion, his departure would have still caused uproar amongst the Arsenal supporters who probably feel that their team should have attempted to bring in some new faces on deadline day. Similar to his teammates, the defender can only improve from last weekend’s performances and look to get themselves back on track next weekend against Bournemouth.
