Arsenal joined by Olympic champion ahead of Preston clash

By Emma Sanders

Arsenal were joined by Mo Farah in training on Thursday afternoon ahead of their clash against Preston.

The Olympic champion is a well-known Arsenal fan and he teamed up with some of the club’s biggest stars at their training ground in London.

The club’s official Twitter account posted an image of Farah posing with Danny Welbeck during training.

Farah currently lives with his family in London and often attends Arsenal games at the Emirates in between training and athletic competition.

The British long-distance runner defended his 10,000m and 5,000m gold medals at Rio in the summer after he picked up the double in London 2012.

He is regarded by many as one of the country’s most successful athletes of all-time and he was nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year award again in 2016.

Farah is one of a number of athletes who have attended training sessions with Premier League clubs and Usain Bolt has joined up with Manchester United in the past.

Arsenal are currently training ahead of their FA Cup clash against Preston on Saturday when they will travel to Deepdale to take on the Championship side.

They return to Premier League action the following Saturday when they take on Swansea but their next fixture at the Emirates isn’t until the 22nd January when they host Burnley.
