Arsenal news: Campbell swipes at Liverpool after ‘laughable’ Ruben Neves comments
Kevin Campbell has insisted Arsenal were vindicated in their celebrations after a “brilliant” away win at Wolves on Thursday.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, slammed Ruben Neves for his “laughable” comments post-match – claiming Liverpool had celebrated just as heavily earlier this season.
As quoted by BT Sport after the clash (10 February), Neves suggested Arsenal had celebrated more after securing a 1-0 away victory than they had in the “past 10 years”, claiming “it was like they won the league”.
The Gunners fell to ten men following Gabriel Martinelli’s red card but held on to resist a late Wolves onslaught.
Campbell insisted Liverpool also celebrated heavily after snatching a 94th-minute victory against Wolves in December.
When asked for his thoughts on Neves’ comments, he told Football Insider: “I actually laughed when I read that!
“Listen, players can say what they want – but it was a brilliant win. It’s a tough game against a good Wolves team at their patch, and Arsenal were down to ten men – why shouldn’t they celebrate?
“They certainly weren’t celebrating like they’d won the league. If I remember rightly, when Liverpool beat them 1-0 at Molineux in the last knockings, they celebrated quite heavily too.
“Winning away is hard, especially at a place like Wolves – maybe they should take it as a compliment.
“If it’s good enough for a team like Liverpool to celebrate, I think Arsenal can do it as well.”
High-flying Wolves sit just four points adrift of a Champions League spot.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are just two points away from fourth-placed West Ham.
The Gunners face fellow London side Brentford on Saturday (19 February).
