Arsenal player sparks Twitter fury after making Chelsea attacker request

By Emma Sanders

Arsenal fans were furious on Twitter after on-loan defender Calum Chambers appeared to request to swap shirts with Diego Costa following his side’s defeat against Chelsea.

The Middlesbrough centre-back performed well but was unable to keep Costa under wraps as the Premier League’s top goalscorer netted the game’s only goal in a Chelsea 1-0 victory.

Boro put on a resilient defensive display but Costa reacted quickest to a goal-mouth scramble to score his 10th league goal of the season and helped send his side to the top of the table, above Liverpool by one point.

Chambers moved to the Riverside Stadium at the end of the summer, despite appearing for Arsenal in their opening Premier League fixture against Liverpool.

He was on the bench for three games before making his Middlesbrough debut against Tottenham in a 2-1 defeat on 24th September and has since kept his place in the starting XI for every league game.

The 21-year-old is well liked by Arsenal fans, who see a future for the youngster in the Arsenal squad but he made a number of enemies on Sunday afternoon.

Costa is not a popular character among many club fans in the Premier League and with Arsenal and Chelsea being huge rivals, Chambers latest action has not been received well by most Gunners fans.
