Arsenal set for 'big spend' after Mikel Arteta given 'guarantees' - pundit
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been given guarantees over his ability to spend this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Spaniard’s future.
On 6 May, Arsenal announced Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract at the Emirates.
The deal sees the Spanish manager commit his future to the north London club until the end of June 2025.
Kenny claims a “big spend” this summer could see Arsenal hit the “next level” next season.
When asked if Arteta may have been given guarantees over the Gunners’ spending power this summer, Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild, “You always have to spend to compete.

“They are on for a place back in the Champions League and that’s where they want to be.
“Arteta’s transfers so far have been pretty good, you have to say. So I’m sure the owners won’t have a problem letting him take charge again.
“Has he been given guarantees? I would think so, you don’t sign a new deal without several things being made clear.
“He will know how much he has to send and he will hope he can compete with the likes of Tottenham or even Chelsea.
“Another big spend this summer could really take them to the next level.”
Arteta has been in charge of Arsenal since December 2019.
He is looking to take the Gunners back to the Champions League after a season without any European football.
