Pochettino determined to include these Tottenham starlets in pre-season tour - report

By Abigail Withey

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is determined to feature three particular young players in his squad over the coming weeks, according to recent reports.

The Independent has revealed that the Spurs manager wants to include young starlets such as Kyle Walker-Peters, Josh Onomah and Harry Winks, all 20-years-old, in the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The newspaper claim that as Pochettino prepares his squad for their three-match tour in America later this month, the manager is eager to include the three players against Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and Manchester City in the Champions Cup.

The Spurs boss is determined to include two of the England Under-20 World Cup participants, Onomah and Walker-Peters.

Just three weeks after their emphatic win, the two youngsters will be back in training on Monday and Pochettino hopes he will be able to include them in the pre-season tour.

It is said that the Spurs manager refused to loan out Onomah as Moussa Sissoko and Georges Kevin N’Koudou look likely to leave the north London club there could be a position up for grabs within the first team.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder made just 12 appearances for the club last season, starting only three of those.

His England Under-20 team mate Kyle Walker-Peters will be hopeful of breaking into the senior squad this summer after the right-back was on the bench for FA Cup matches against Aston Villa and Wycombe, and failed to make a single appearance.

If Kyle Walker makes a departure from the club this season, then similarly named Walker-Peters could swoop in to become a back up for Kieran Trippier next season at Wembley.

Finally, Pochettino is very eager to include midfielder Winks, who is currently injured.

The 20-year-old has already returned to the club’s Enfield training centre as he hopes to be fit enough to travel to the US and overcome his malleolar injury.

Winks made an impressive breakthrough into the first-team and displayed a stunning performance for Spurs which helped them finish second in the Premier League.

Pochettino included the England Under-21 in 33 matches last season, and Winks provided a single goal with one assist to match.
