Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale in battle to be selected after confirmed news - expert
Paul Robinson has claimed Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale will battle it out with Dean Henderson for a place in England’s World Cup squad.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England goalkeeper said Jordan Pickford and Nick Pope are nailed on picks for Gareth Southgate.
As reported by Sky Sports (15 September), Gareth Southgate named his squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Italy and Germany.
Everton stopper Pickford misses out after picking up a thigh injury.
Ramsdale, Pope and Henderson are the three keepers included in Southgate’s squad.
Robinson claimed it will be difficult for anyone to oust Pickford when he is fully fit.

“For me, Pickford is out and out number one, there’s no conversation, his injury has just come at a very unfortunate time,” he told Football Insider.
“But it’s come at a very good time to give another goalkeeper some caps before the World Cup. We’re quite guilty as a nation of going into a competition with one goalkeeper that’s got several caps and the ones behind him have got caps in single number. So it’s good to give somebody else caps.
“For me, Nick Pope is clearly number two. Yes Aaron Ramsdale has done well, he’s been okay this season in a team that are playing well but for me Nick Pope’s performances have been outstanding, he’s gone on to a different level.
“Ramsdale’s been excellent, Henderson’s been excellent but Nick Pope’s grown since his move from Burnley. Henderson is going to have to battle it out with his performances.“
