Report: Attacker set for medical as Wenger confirms transfer is getting closer

Arsenal sensation Alexis Sanchez has today travelled north to Manchester, in order to undergo his United medical, according to a report.
The Sun report that the transfer of Sanchez, that sees Henrikh Mkhitaryan move in the other direction, was finalised earlier today, and the Chilean international is headed to Carrington to meet the team’s medical staff.
Speaking post-match, as quoted by The Sun, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Sanchez had left the Capital, and he was not selected in today’s victorious Arsenal lineup,
“You cannot drive up north and as well play football.
“Sanchez will only happen if Mkhitaryan comes here. That will be decided in the next 48 hours. It is a possibility,” Wenger added.
Football Insider verdict:
Alexis Sanchez is almost certainly going to pass his medical at Manchester United, the Chilean international has been fit this term, and was playing well during the early stages of the season. Jose Mourinho seems to have worked some magic by bringing Sanchez to Old Trafford, and their chances at silverware this season have been boosted should he arrive. Arsenal are receiving a worthy replacement in Mkhitaryan, who is yet to show his full potential in England. The Armenian will compliment the attacking options Arsene Wenger currently has at his disposal, who shone in todays win.
In other Arsenal transfer news, it has been reported that the Gunners have submitted an eight-figure sum for this red hot Striker.
