Mesut Ozil played the full match as Arsenal were beaten 2-1 at Manchester City on Sunday afternoon – and fans on Twitter slated his lazy mentality.
Arsene Wenger’s side scored after five minutes when Alexis Sanchez’ brilliant reverse pass found Theo Walcott who opened the scoring.
The away side had a decent opening period, in particular the first 20 minutes, but after the break it all went wrong for the north London club.
Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling punished their title challengers with the duo’s pace and directness causing trouble for the Gunners defensive backline.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Wenger has to go , along with Ramsey ,Walcott . And am beginning to think even Ozil should go, he never turns up in big games. #afc

Makes me laugh yes Ozil had a bad game but let's be honest we hardly played to his strengths did we? #afc

Saying Ozil doesn't show up in big games is wrong. It was an inexcusable performance today but he's in poor form. He will bounce back. #AFC

Ozil should please pack up and move to China where he will become so lazy on the pitch and still win the MOTM… He lacks commitment #afc

It's not a case of having doubts in Ozil but his attitude has to change. I want to see him fight like a Lion for the remaining season #afc

High time arsene starts playing Gibbs and Perez. Ozil should be given a rest doubt that will happen #afc

The majority of the Arsenal faithful were critical of Ozil and his mindset going into big games as they slated his display against City.
Some fans feel the playmaker should leave the club as he is not having any impact during big games of the season.
However, the World Cup winner did have some supporters who backed him as they stated he may need a rest from the starting XI.
Another fan believes that manager Arsene Wenger did not play to the German’s strength at the weekend, but others argued that he only performs against the lesser teams.
As a result of that defeat Wenger’s side drop down to fourth in the Premier League table on 34 points from 17 games.
They host Tony Pulis’ West Brom on Boxing Day, before starting off the new year with a London tie against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium.
