'Asking questions' – Euro club chief confirms reported Arsenal target has had head turned
Bordeaux sensation Malcom has been asking questions regarding his future in France, amidst reported interest from Arsenal.
The Brazilian winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this season, and his current manager Jocelyn Gourvennec has admitted in a press conference that the 20-year-old is contemplating what is best for his future.
The French born manager stated, as quoted by Football London, that Malcom is comitted to Bordeaux for the time being,
“He’s committed. He’s a bit like he was in the summer – I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions.”
The Daily Mail reported that Arsenal were going to have to part ways with £45million to secure the 20-year-old, who is under contract with the French outfit until 2021.
However Gourvennec has admitted that Malcom is contemplating what is best for his future prospects,
“He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical.”
Football Insider verdict:
The fact that Malcom’s current manager has stated that Malcom is contemplating his future at his current club strongly indicates that he has been affected by the speculation of a transfer. His head is likely to be turned should Arsenal officially make a bid for the 20-year-old, who only signed his cntract extension at Bordeaux six months ago. The Brazilian winger would be a suitable replacement for Alexis Sanchez, should he finalise a deal away from the Emirates this January.
