Arsenal tipped to soar beyond Man United and become 'serious force' - pundit

Arsenal will become a “serious force” in the Premier League if Mikel Arteta is backed this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Gunners’ future.

Arsenal are in a strong position to finish in the top four this season with four league games still to play.

This comes after a season of no European football following a poor 2020-21 campaign.

Arteta strengthened his squad last summer with key signings like Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale.

Kenny claims another successful summer window could make Arsenal significantly better than a side like Man United.

“Arteta has proved himself this season, I just don’t think he has the squad he wants,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They are playing really well and they are beating some really good teams as well.

“So, with some more money to spend this summer, you would back them to get even better.

“They need a new striker but other than that, the attack looks really promising.

“I think they are missing something in the defence and maybe in the heart of that defence.

“We know the goalkeeper position is taken care of. I honestly think Arsenal can be a serious force next season if they have a good summer.

“They could move ahead of teams like Man United as they go through a complete rebuild.”

Arsenal are next in action against Leeds on Sunday (8 May).

Top four rivals Tottenham travel to Anfield 24 hours earlier.
