‘Arsenal to cancel Neto loan immediately’ – Fans explode after Girona incident

Arsenal fans took to social media to express their frustration with Neto’s performance against Girona as he stepped in for the injured David Raya.

Despite securing a 2-1 victory, the Gunners suffered an early setback due to Neto’s misjudgment and had to comeback from 1-0 down.

A ball played in behind Thomas Partey allowed former Tottenham forward Arnaut Danjuma to open the scoring. Neto had already rushed out of his box when the pass was made and hesitated as the ball went past him.

He dived for the ball despite being outside the box—narrowly avoiding a costly handball that could have made his night even worse.

Arsenal supporters were unimpressed with his display in what was his first appearance for the club, questioning whether he should get more opportunities in goal.

Arsenal fans frustrated with no David Raya in goal

Although conceding first, Mikel Arteta’s team turned the game around to secure all three points and finish third in the Champions League standings.

A penalty from Jorginho and a brilliant strike from 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri were enough to send Arsenal automatically through to the Round of 16.

However, Neto’s costly error has left fans with little confidence, particularly if David Raya remains sidelined for an extended period.

Arsenal have no plans to cancel their existing loans that include Neto and Raheem Sterling, which could have opened up space for additional domestic loan signings, as the club has already filled its quota.

The Brazilian was ineligible for the Carabao Cup due to being cup-tied with Bournemouth, meaning this was his first real chance to impress. But after his shaky start, it remains uncertain whether he will get many more opportunities unless Arsenal are forced to rely on him.

Nonetheless, supporters were far from impressed with his display. Many echoed the sentiment that Neto’s loan should be cancelled, with one fan even stating, “I don’t want to see Neto start again”. Another claimed it is the “worst loan spell of all time”. One demanded his move be cancelled “immediately”.
