Arsenal told to bin Lacazette and sign superstar after £45m cash-plus-player bid - Campbell
Arsenal should offload Alexandre Lacazette amid reported interest from Atletico Madrid and replace him with a youthful superstar like Lautaro Martinez.
So says ex-Gunners hitman Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 30-year-old Frenchman’s future at the Emirates.
ESPN (via the Daily Mail on 26th July) reported that the Spanish champions are ready to renew their interest in Lacazette.
Lacazette, who has a year remaining on his Arsenal deal, was heavily linked with a move to the Wanda Metropolitano last summer.
Football Insider revealed on 28th July that Arsenal are offering £30m-valued Hector Bellerin plus £45m cash in exchange for £75m-valued Inter Milan striker Martinez.
And Campbell claims that the North London club would do well to get Lacazette’s wages off the books and replace him with a younger front man.

“With a year to go on his contract, beggars can’t be choosers,” he told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs.
“You have to do it now. Lacazette is on big money. To be able to trade him and bring a younger player in like Martinez would be good business.
“Arteta seems to want to bring youth, and I think that’s really important.
“With younger players you get more energy, not as many injuries, and they carry a threat. So I think it would be good business, well done.“
Martinez hit the back of the net 10 times and supplied 10 assists for Inter as they triumphed in Serie A last season.
Lacazette meanwhile netted 13 times and registered two assists for Arsenal in the league in 2020-21.
