Arsenal told to complete ‘£100m’ Declan Rice deal after terms agreed – pundit
Arsenal must step up their pursuit of Declan Rice or risk losing out on a deal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Former West Ham striker Franck McAvennie has urged the Gunners push through with a transfer for Rice as Manchester City look ready to swoop in to hijack a move.
Football Insider revealed ( 13 June) that Mikel Arteta’s side have agreed terms with the England international in a deal worth £100million-plus.
The initial bid of £92m includes around £8m worth of add-ons, taking the total deal to over the £100m mark.
His current deal with West Ham runs until 2024 and includes the option of a further 12 months but the Hammers are set to lose their star man this summer as Irons owner David Sullivan has already tipped Rice’s exit after admitting that the midfielder was “promised” he would be allowed to quit.
With a potential move on the cards, McAvennie believes it is pivotal that Arsenal move swiftly in completing a transfer for the Englishman.
“If Arsenal go into a bidding war with Manchester City they will lose,” He told Football Insider.
“But I don’t think Rice will want to go City as he won’t get a game there, he is not going to play every game but he will at Arsenal.

“There is a journey at Arsenal and I think Rice wants to be a part of that.
“They have to stop playing games with the transfer, the owners have already promised that he can leave so the Gunners just need to pay the £100million that is being asked for.”
