Arsenal transfers: Joan Garcia, Aaron Ramsdale updates from O’Rourke

Arsenal are lining up a move for Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that a move for the goalkeeper is determined by whether or not Aaron Ramsdale remains at the Emirates Stadium.

Football Insider revealed the England international is “breaking the door down” in an attempt to leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

Ramsdale slipped down the pecking order last season as Mikel Arteta preferred David Raya as his number one.

Football Insider reported that the Gunners were hoping for a permanent transfer for Ramsdale this summer, but the club might now have to accept a loan move.

Should Ramsdale depart in the final days of the transfer window, Arsenal will have a deal lined up ready for Garcia to come in.

Arsenal view Joan Garcia as an ideal Aaron Ramsdale replacement

The shot-stopper has climbed his way through the ranks at Espanyol, from being part of the youth setup to being part of the first team.

Garcia played 14 times for Espanyol’s B team last season in La Liga 2 and kept eight clean sheets.

Garcia is under contract with the La Liga side until 2028, putting them in a strong negotiating position if Arsenal do make a move.

As well as Ramsdale, Arsenal are also looking to offload Eddie Nketiah before the transfer window closes.

Football Insider revealed that Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign the striker, and negotiations are advancing between the Premier League clubs.
