Mega-money signing axed by Arsenal as Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain start v Liverpool
By Harry Sykes
Arsenal have axed Alexandre Lacazette from their starting XI for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.
Manager Arsene Wenger has named Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in his team for the showdown at Anfield despite serious doubts as to whether they will still be at the club beyond next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
But there is no place for club-record signing Lacazette, as Danny Welbeck is given the nod to spearhead the attack.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made two changes to the side that beat Hoffeinheim in the Champions League in midweek.
Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is omitted completely from the squad as Lorius Karius is handed a recall to the starting XI.

There is not even a place for Mignolet on the bench, with Danny Ward selected to understudy Karius.
Intriguingly, there is no spot on the bench either for Divock Origi, who has been linked with a move away from Liverpool.
In other Arsenal team news, Liverpool lead the chase to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain following a major development but told they must pay £40million and £1 to seal the deal.
