Kevin Campbell is adamant Arsenal will try and sign Martin Odegaard permanently this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker said the 22-year-old is the “real deal” and looks to be enjoying life at the Emirates.

Odegaard joined Mikel Arteta’s side on loan from Real Madrid in January and has impressed in his 10 appearances across all competitions.

Campbell heaped praise on the Norway international who makes football look “effortless”.

“I expect Arsenal to try and sign him permanently, without a shadow of a doubt,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“He has looked stronger with every game he plays. He looks like he is the real deal.

“I do not want to put too much pressure on his shoulders but he seems to fit in perfectly. It looks like he is getting on with all of the other lads and he just makes football look so effortless.

“He is getting his name on the scoresheet as well which is really good to see.”

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners will approach Real Madrid at the end of the season with a second loan deal or a permanent switch on the cards.

Odegaard will have two years remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu come the summer.
