Alex Iwobi took to Instagram to praise Arsenal after their dramatic 2-1 victory over Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
The Nigerian winger also lauded the club’s fans as the 10-man Gunners leapfrogged Liverpool and Tottenham, who both dropped points on Saturday, into second place in the Premier League.
Posting on his personal profile, Iwobi said: “Everyone dug in today and showed our determination to get the three points.
“Fans were amazing and kept singing ‘til the end.”
Alexis Sanchez’s 98th minute penalty secured the three points for Arsenal after Andre Gray also scored a penalty in stoppage time to equalise.
This late drama all came after Iwobi’s side took the lead in the 59th minute through Shkodran Mustafi and Granit Xhaka’s dismissal for a two-footed lunge on Burnley’s Steven Defour.
Iwobi, who has made 18 Premier League appearances for the north London side, will now be looking forward to their next game against Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup next Saturday as they look to go seven games unbeaten in all competitions.
