Wenger scotches talk of reported Arsenal move for senior Bundesliga man

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has rubbished claims that the club are looking to appoint a director of football and said he would be unwilling to work with one at the club.
The French manager is out of contract at the end of this season, with his future at the club still up in the air.
He has endured a difficult season at the North London club, with sections of the fanbase criticising Wenger for a disappointing campaign in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
The poor season has reportedly prompted chief executive Ivan Gazidis into exploring potential changes in regards to the hierarchy at the club.
The Mirror previously reported that Arsenal had made an initial approach to Hoffenheim’s Alexander Rosen.

However, speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Southampton on Wednesday, Wenger has rebuffed any suggestion that Arsenal will appoint their first ever Director of Football while he’s still there.
He told journalists at the press conference, as quoted by the Guardian: “As long as I’m manager of Arsenal football club, I will decide what happens on the technical front.
“I’m not prepared to talk about that.”
Wenger, who has spent 22 years at the helm of the Gunners, was highly critical of the role at a club, suggesting he did not understand what they did or why they were involved.
“I don’t know what director of football means. Is it somebody who stands in the road and directs play right and left?” he said in the Guardian.
“I don’t understand and I never did understand what it means.”
Wenger’s side are still in with a chance of a top four finish, as they sit six points off fourth placed Manchester City with four games left to play.
They come into Wednesday’s clash with the Saints off the back of a convincing 2-0 victory over fifth placed Manchester United, while their opponents managed to scrape a 0-0 draw away at Liverpool.
In other Arsenal news, Phil Neville has claimed he would not touch this star with a barge pole.
