Arteta cited as Tottenham branded 'crazy' after behind-the-scenes Nuno reveal - pundit

Frank McAvennie insist it is too early to be talking about Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tottenham future.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on Nuno.

As reported by the Athletic (29th September), Nuno’s start to life at Tottenham has failed to endear him to the squad.

This comes as Tottenham suffered three straight league defeats, conceding three goals in all of those games.

However, just a few weeks ago, everything looked positive at Spurs with the club top of the Premier League and unbeaten after three games.

It was Nuno’s North London rival Mikel Arteta who was under pressure but now those roles have reversed.

McAvennie insists the pressure on Nuno will ease with the club’s next win and pointed to Arteta as an example.

“He’s a new manager trying new things,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“A few weeks ago we were talking about Arteta being under pressure and now look where he is.

“Football is a funny old game, it’s far too early. If Tottenham beat Aston Villa then this all goes away.

“Next week it will be someone else’s turn. Probably Ole the way Man United are going.

“But seriously, I don’t understand where this comes from. Is it the derby defeat? Emotions can be high.

“It’s far too early to talk about sacking him, he was the messiah two weeks ago. It’s crazy. I don’t get it.”

Tottenham face Aston Villa on Sunday.

They go into the game on the back of a 5-1 win over NS Mura in the Europa Conference League.

In other news, one Spurs star is “disgusted” with Daniel Levy and wants to leave in January.
