Aston Villa have agreed a sensational deal to sign Brentford striker Scott Hogan, according to a reliable journalist.
Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol has revealed on Twitter that the Midlands giants have made the biggest transfer statement of the January window yet by winning the race for the 24-year-old forward.
Solhekol reports that Villa will pay £15million for Hogan and that the player is headed to Villa Park for a deadline-day medical.

Villa have reportedly won the race to land Hogan after West Ham pulled out of the race on Monday night following a concerted push for the player this month.
Steve Bruce’s side are set to equal their own record for a Championship transfer, which was set last summer when they paid £15million for Jonathan Kodjia.
Once again, Villa have turned to a second-tier rival to revamp a front line that, despite Kodjia’s arrival, has accumulated a measly 28 league goals from 27 matches this season.
Hogan has been highly impressive for the London club this season, bringing a return of 14 goals in 27 appearances.
He will now add some much needed firepower to Bruce’s 13th placed team.
Football Insider verdict:
It is clear that the Midlands giants needed to add a striker to their squad in this window. However, a £15million fee spent on a player who has played just 33 times at Championship level on deadline-day does speak of desperation from the club. One positive that Hogan does have is that he is still young and still has room to grow as a player. However, his fee will mean that he will come under immediate pressure and if he doesn’t impress instantly then fans could get on his back. Villa already have one big-money striker flop at the club in Ross McCormack and they will now need to hope Hogan doesn’t fall the same way.
