Aston Villa can seal 'cheap' Abraham signing 'imminently' after reported update - Campbell

Kevin Campbell is adamant Tammy Abraham will be wearing an Aston Villa shirt next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton forward claimed the 23-year-old would be a “cheap” signing for £40million.

This site revealed on 3rd May that the Midlands club have set aside a record-breaking £40million to sign the Chelsea striker ahead of Wolves and Leicester City.

According to The Mirror (28th June), the Blues are now expecting to receive an official offer from Villa ‘imminently’.

Abraham has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment and is seen as surplus to requirements.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said: “I think that deal is going to happen.

“He knows the club and was very successful there. He scored a hell of a lot of goals in that loan spell.

“He cannot get a kick at Chelsea, which is madness when you think how talented he is.

“The writing is on the wall for him. Tuchel clearly does not see him as part of his plans moving forward.

“To be honest with you, I think £40million is cheap for an English striker of his quality.”

Abraham scored 26 goals in 40 appearances in the 2018-19 campaign to help Villa gain promotion to the Premier League.

He has two years remaining on his contract at Chelsea.
