'Seriously disrespectful' Aston Villa chiefs lambasted after Terry reveal - Kenny

Aston Villa have been “seriously disrespectful” by exploring potential candidates to replace Dean Smith while he is still in the job.

So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider the manager’s future at Villa Park.

Smith’s side have lost four successive matches in the Premier League and are currently languishing in 15th place.

This site revealed on 22 October that Smith is under “huge” pressure to keep his job and updated today to reveal that his former number two John Terry is in the frame for a sensational return if he is sacked.

Kenny ripped into the Villa bigwigs’ for their apparent disregard for Smith.

“I think it’s really disrespectful and it can’t be nice for Dean Smith,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“He is still in charge and he’s trying to do the job on a day-to-day basis with these rumours swirling around in the background.

“It must make you uncomfortable when you are trying to get on with it and all people are talking about is who might replace you.

“With Villa struggling a little bit, he knows his job could be on the line. But he has done so well to get them promoted and improve them last season.

“If you think about it, they have lost Jack Grealish over the summer and it was always going to take some time for the new signings to gel.”

Terry quit Villa Park in July after three years as Smith’s number two to focus on becoming a manager.
