Robinson can't believe Aston Villa footage as Premier League inundated with complaints
Paul Robinson is baffled by the series of events leading up to the sending off of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and England number one claimed the officials got the decision “100 per cent” wrong.
A double VAR check resulted in Ezri Konsa being shown a red card for his challenge on Jarrod Bowen after 52 minutes.
Referee Chris Kavanagh took the surprise decision to send off Konsa, instead of his teammate Kortney Hause, who appeared to elbow West Ham’s Pablo Fornals seconds earlier.
As revealed by Football Insider (November 2nd), the Premier League has been inundated with calls from top-flight clubs questioning why Hause was not dismissed.
Robinson echoed the calls from the fuming Premier League sides.

“The elbow was the red card decision,” he told Football Insider. “100 per cent.
“That was way worse than Konsa’s. It should have been a straight red. There’s no doubt about it.
“It is plain to see on VAR that his arm was right across his face. The actual red was really harsh because I’m not sure that was a definite goalscoring opportunity. It made no sense.
“Yes, there was a sending off there but the wrong player got it.
“I don’t know how they can take retrospective action though because it was not missed by the referee of VAR.”
West Ham went on to win 4-1 at Villa Park.
Konsa is set to be suspended for fixtures against Southampton, Brighton and Crystal Palace.
