Sanson could be set for Aston Villa exit after key transfer reveal - Kenny

Aston Villa could sell Morgan Sanson this summer barely six months after he first joined the club.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed on 12th June that Villa have made an approach for James Ward-Prowse amid doubts over their current midfield options.

Douglas Luiz’s future at the club is unclear and Dean Smith has been unimpressed with Sanson since his arrival in January.

Sanson signed a four-and-a-half-year contract when he joined from Marseille in a reported £14.5million deal.

The 26-year-old made just nine appearances for Villa before a knee injury ruled him out for the last two months of the season.

Kenny insists that Villa should not be hesitant to attempt to offload Sanson if they feel that his career in the Midlands is destined not to take off.

“I don’t see why they wouldn’t sell him if he’s not producing,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“It’s only six months and sometimes you’ve got to give players a little bit more time. Not everyone settles well in this country.

“But if they are interested in a couple more midfielders then that could be a sign. There’s no shame in cutting your losses and moving on.

“People make mistakes. You’re never going to get every signing spot-on.”

This site revealed in March that Villa chiefs fear they had made a mistake in signing Sanson as he is considered difficult to manage.

That might explain why, as revealed by Football Insider earlier today, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris will throw their financial weight behind the bid to sign Ward-Prowse.

In other news, pundit claims two key developments tell him Jack Grealish will leave Aston Villa this summer.
