Aston Villa could sign new ‘Kieran Tierney’ after £25m update – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed Aston Villa could sign the new “Kieran Tierney” in Rangers defender Calvin Bassey this summer.
The former Gers and Villa defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Steven Gerrard’s men would be willing to splash out on the 22-year-old’s capture.
As reported by the Daily Mail (26 May), Rangers have slapped a £25million price tag on the defender’s head amid interest from Villa and West Ham.

Football Insider revealed last month (21 May) that the Gers are preparing to offer Bassey a bumper new contract.
However, Hutton suggested Villa would be willing to meet the Glasgow giants’ eight-figure demands to sign him.
“I could see Villa paying it,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Obviously, the manager, Steven Gerrard, knows him inside out and bought him to Rangers.
“There’s a lot of media speculation about Calvin Bassey and a Villa transfer because of the manager. When you’re playing at a level that he’s playing at, so young, at such a high level, he’s got a lot more to give. He’s only going to get better.
“I think that’s probably a fair price if I’m totally honest. I know people keep bringing up the Kieran Tierney situation and what he went for. Calvin Bassey is more than capable of doing exactly the same thing.

“He ticks all the same boxes that Kieran Tierney does. He’s powerful, he can get forward and put balls into the box, he’s very strong one-v-one defending and can play multiple positions.
“This is a guy where the world’s his oyster if you want. I really think that £25million is a very fair price.
