Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to possible relegation battle after Barnsley loss
By Danny Wright
Aston Villa fans are worried about a second consecutive relegation and took to Twitter on Tuesday night after witnessing their side lose 3-1 at home to Barnsley.
The result sees Villa’s winless streak continue as they edge closer and closer to the drop zone.
The fans are now genuinely concerned about seeing their club relegated in two successive seasons.
Following the home defeat, Steve Bruce’s side sit in 16th position in the Championship with 36 points – just seven points clear of the bottom three.
The Birmingham-based club are without a win since Boxing Day and have lost six of their last seven games in all competitions.
Villa are also the highest-spending club in the Championship having run up a massive £63million on transfers, more than most Premier League clubs.
Here is a selection of tweets made by Aston Villa fans after the Barnsley loss:

In their 142 year history, Villa have only ever spent two seasons in the third tier of English football with their last relegation to that level coming in the 1969/70 season.
Their relegation last season was their first from the top-flight since 1986/87, however on that occasion the Villans secured an instant return.
Villa fans will now be dreading their next game as they travel to Newcastle on Saturday.
The Magpies, who were relegated alongside Villa last season, are enjoying a completely opposite season to Villa and are perched at the top of the league.
