'Wow', 'On fire' - Aston Villa fans rave about display of one man despite loss v QPR
Aston Villa suffered a catastrophic defeat in their quest for automatic promotion to the Premier League with a 3-1 loss at Villa Park against QPR in the Championship on Tuesday night.
With Cardiff City and Wolves beating Brentford and Reading respectively, it meant that Steve Bruce’s side needed to win in order to keep up the pressure.
But goals from Ryan Manning, Jake Bidwell, and Luke Freeman left Villa’s promotion hopes in tatters with a seven-point gap between them and the Bluebirds in second place.
It is now looking as though the Villans only route to the top-flight will be through the play offs – that is unless one of the sides above suffers a terrible end to the season.
Neil Warnock is a master of promotion and Wolves have too much quality to let their advantage slide so late in the day which means it’s now looking very unlikely.
But despite the defeat, supporters were still happy with the showing of centre-back James Chester, who scored his third goal in his last three games, adding to his previous efforts against Wolves and Sunderland.

It also left supporters comparing his goal tally to that of Gabby Agbonlahor, the veteran attacker.
Here is a selection of Twitter responses to the player who scored again:
James Chester has scored more in 3 games than agbonlahor in 3 years.

On the upside, James Chester (a defender) has as many goals in 3 games as Gabby Agbonlahor (a joke) has in 3 years. #AVFC

Yes, three goals… To QPR… and a consolation from a defender that puts all other outfield players to shame. Well done.

Well we're behind another corner, goes short and plays through to get to James Chester who puts us on board! Wow. It's fun to score goals.
