Aston Villa fans react on Twitter as senior attacker set to leave in January

By Amir Mir

Jordan Ayew has been named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the African Cup of Nations which starts on January 14 – and fans on Twitter believe he won’t be a miss.

As reported by the Birmingham Mail, the senior attacker will leave the club in January and could return as late as February 5, if his side makes it to the final in Gabon.

Avram Grant named the 25-year-old in his squad but did not name his club teammate Albert Adomah who is set to stay at Villa Park.

Steve Bruce’s side are sitting tenth in the Championship table after their 2-1 win against Burton on Boxing Day, with Ayew and Adomah both contributing to the win.

As the news broke that Ayew will leave fans were not too fussed about his inclusion for the AFCON’s, but they were pleased that Adomah was going to stay.

Supporters compared the duo and stated that Adomah is the more valuable and important player than Ayew.

But one fan did question how the Midlands side will cope with Ayew and Kodjia, who could be called up by the Ivory Coast.

Overall, the Villa Park faithful were surprisingly pleased as Ayew is set to miss fixtures against the likes of Tottenham in the FA Cup and Midlands rivals Wolves in the Championship.
