Aston Villa fans react on Twitter as McCormack ends goal drought during Burton win

By Amir Mir

Ross McCormack scored his first goal since September during Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Burton – and fans on Twitter were hoping he can now build on his goal.

Steve Bruce’s side were fortunate to pick up three points on Boxing Day in front of a sell-out crowd at Villa Park.

Leandro Bacuna gave the home side the lead when he headed home the opener with the visitors levelling the scoring before the break through Jamie Ward.

In the second half, Villa produced better opportunities on goal with McCormack scoring the winner 12 minutes from time.

The club’s £12 million summer signing has struggled for form this season, scoring only two goals prior to today’s game.

But fans on social media were delighted for their striker as he found the back of the net for the first time since the 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.

Supporters pointed out that the Scotsman linked up well with Jack Grealish who came on a second-half substitute.

They also named McCormack man of the match as they backed him to now build upon this goal and regularly find the back of the net.

Despite it being a poor display from Bruce’s side, fans were happy to walk away with the three points as they narrow the gap on the top six.
